With only a week to go until I moved to Paris I spent a few
nights in Pennsylvania going to Pittsburgh and State College. The first stop
was Pittsburgh, affectionately known as Steel City. Pittsburgh throughout
America’s history was the centre for steel production for the United States.
You can still see the effect it has had on the city with many steel bridges,
railway lines and old buildings warehouses and factories.
I started the day in the historic Strip District. This area
was previously home to and is now a key tourist and party area. The city has a
strong following to its professional sports teams, especially the Steelers NFL
team.
With the city’s strategic position on the corner of the Three
Rivers, the city has amazing views of the skyline and river from many
locations. It is a beautiful city and
one that I would definitely like to visit again.
